The 9 Best Places to Eat and Drink in Coogee

With so many places to eat and drink in Sydney, it can be hard to decide where to go. After all, you want to make sure you’re getting a good feed and the best drinks possible. Instead of wasting your time going in and out of bars and restaurants trying to find the best place, we’ve started the search for you. To narrow things down, we decided to look around the area of Coogee for the best bars and restaurants. Coogee is the beachside suburb south of Bondi Beach and within the City of Randwick. Only 8km from the CBD, it’s a great place to escape from the busy inner city, without being too far from the action. Whether you live in Coogee, or are looking for a new place to visit for a lazy weekend meal, be sure to check out some of these great bars and restaurants.

1. Little Jack Horner

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, Little Jack Horner is a splendid little bar and restaurant. Situated close to the beach, it’s the perfect place to visit either for a hearty breakfast before a day on the beach, or in the evening to wind down after a long day. They have a wide selection of meals, no matter what your dietary requirements are. All of their food is fresh and looks stunning upon arrival to the table.

2. The Bunker

The bars in the Coogee Diggers Club definitely shouldn’t be discounted. The Main Bar is situated on Level one of the Club and opens out to a sunny courtyard and beer garden. The Main Bar has 10 beer taps on each side to satisfy all beer lovers. They also have an extensive wine list to select from. If you wish to relax, the far end of the bar features a lounge area to sit and chat with friends and family. The beer garden and main bar area are all family-friendly, which is great for those looking to head somewhere with the kids on the weekend.

3. Coogee Pavilion

With a spectacular beach and ocean view, it’s no wonder many people head to Coogee Pavilion for a good meal and a drink to follow. There are two sections to the Pavilion; The Ground Floor is suited to family gatherings, catching up with friends or casual coffee dates, whereas the Rooftop has four indoor and outdoor bars for the adults. Featuring a games arena on the ground floor, people of all ages will enjoy spending quality time here. In the evening, adults can relax on the Rooftop, overlooking the Coogee shoreline all whilst enjoying the fantastic Mediterranean menu they have on offer.

4. Bat Country

One of the greatest things about Bat Country is the fact they have a great price on drinks seven days a week. If you’re here before 7pm, you can choose from a selection of drinks that will only cost you $7. Along with that, they have a huge selection of cocktails and wines that will please even the fussiest drinker. The St Hugo GSM they have available is a real treat. If you’re looking for a meal, they’re open from 7am each day and have a splendid breakfast menu to suit their early opening times.

5. Churrasco

If you’re looking for a special deal on meals and drinks, look no further than Churrasco. You can purchase a Corona beer bucket (6 beers) for just $35, which is perfect for you and your friends to enjoy. However, if you want to save money whilst out for a meal with the kids, Monday night is Family Night. On Monday’s kids under 12 eat for free with every full priced BBQ (one child per adult). This makes for a great evening out for the whole family.

6. The Little Kitchen

This family owned and operated business changes their menu rather often because they look for the freshest and best produce to use from local and organic farmers. The atmosphere is relaxed and calm and is a great place for a casual brunch or a special dinner for two. Their “Fair Trade Organic” Ginger Beer is particularly good and goes perfectly with the marinated flank steak open sandwich. All the food is fresh and vibrant and their wine list, surprisingly extensive.

7. X74

Whether you’re looking for a big breakfast or somewhere to eat during the day, there’s plenty to choose on the menu at X74. Sundays from 2pm is when you should head here if you’re looking for $12 cocktails.

8. Barzura

Barzura offers  a unique dining experience with fantastic views of Coogee Beach and the Pacific Ocean. They’re open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week, from 7am each day. Like some other venues, their menu does change often due to seasonal and local ingredients, but their menu is always full of fresh and exciting meals. They also cater to vegetarian, vegan, gluten and dairy intolerant customers, which is great for those feeling like they’re missing out on dining out due to dietary requirements. Happy Hour on their drinks also occurs at 3-6pm every day.
